Introduction of Hammer Crusher

The hammer crusher achieves crushing through high-speed impact of hammers on the material. With a simple structure and high crushing ratio, it is mainly used for secondary and tertiary crushing of medium to low hardness brittle materials with compressive strength ≤200 MPa and moisture content ≤15%, providing a more economical option for pre-crushing ahead of Raymond mills. However, it should be noted that when the material has high hardness, strong abrasiveness, or high moisture content, the wear of hammers and grate bars accelerates, discharge size fluctuation increases, particle shape becomes unstable, which in turn affects grinding efficiency.

Features and Advantages of Hammer Crusher

High Crushing Ratio: The single-machine crushing ratio is generally 10~25, and can reach up to about 40 under specific conditions, capable of crushing materials into medium to fine particles (≤35 mm).

Simple and Economical: Mainly composed of rotor, hammers, screen plate, etc., with simple structure, small footprint, easy maintenance, and relatively low investment and maintenance costs.

Flexible and Controllable: The discharge size can be flexibly controlled by replacing the grate bars or adjusting the gap between hammers and grate bars.

High Efficiency and Low Energy Consumption: Impact crushing principle provides high energy utilization, low specific energy consumption, and outstanding production capacity.

Working Principle of Hammer Crusher

After the material enters the crushing chamber from the top feed inlet, the high-speed rotating rotor drives the hammers to impact the material at high speed for initial crushing. The crushed material then strikes the impact liners inside the housing at high velocity for secondary crushing. During rebound or falling, the crushed material impacts again with the hammers and subsequent flying material, achieving multiple crushing stages. Finally, material with qualified particle size is discharged through the gaps of the bottom grate bar screen, while larger material is retained above the screen plate and continues to be impacted by the hammers until crushed to the qualified size for discharge.

Frequently Asked Questions About Hammer Crusher

What is the difference between a hammer crusher and an impact crusher?

Hammer Crusher: Crushes material through high-speed impact of hammers, with grate bars controlling the discharge size. Not suitable for materials with high moisture or high hardness. The finished particle shape is not as good as that of an impact crusher, but the structure is simple and the price is relatively lower.

Impact Crusher: Uses high-speed rotor and impact plates to crush material, with impact plates controlling the discharge size. Less prone to clogging, can process various medium to low hardness materials, produces excellent particle shape (mostly cubic, very few flaky and elongated particles).

Can a hammer crusher crush material in a single pass?

If a standard hammer crusher is used for single-pass crushing, wear is high and the finished particle shape is poor. It is not recommended to use it as a single-stage crusher. However, heavy-duty hammer crushers, with optimized heavy hammers, can achieve single-pass crushing, but their price is relatively higher.

Can a hammer crusher process high-moisture materials?

Due to the grate bars at the bottom, when the material moisture is too high, the grate bar openings are easily clogged. Additionally, high-moisture materials accelerate the wear of hammers and grate bars. It is generally not recommended to process high-moisture materials.
